Brad chose a path of military service. Enlisting in the US Navy in (insert year), he rose threw the enlisted ranks and transferred into the office ranks. This is know as being a Mustang, something Brad was very proud of. Brad saw a lot of action during his 30 years in the military. He met the then President of the United States while serving on the Abraham Lincoln, assisted in the rescue of Marines while serving with Strike Force Fifty, among many more. Brad spent nearly 25% of his military career in Iraq specifically serving at of the main bases known as MNSTC-I.
It was while serving here that Brad sustained multiple traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) and later suffered with PTSD. Brad eventually retired from the Navy having served with distinction and honor for 30 years.
On May 16, 2021, Brad was found at his home in Washington state, having suffered a major Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage. He was taken by ambulance to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles and then air lifted to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in Seattle. Brad was intubated and had a bedside burr hole drilled into his skull placing a pressure relief drain to his brain.
Brad has a devoted wife, Kat, and three amazing children who have lived and supported him through the years. Now, they struggle to comprehend how this strong, full of life husband and father could fall prey to this devastating brain injury after having survived so many other injuries from his time in service. Brad now fights his biggest battle ever... Finding his way through the barriers his brain has built in defense of the trauma suffered.
His wife has had to put her medical career on an indefinite hold to be present for her husband... to motivate him, to work with his physical therapist to keep up with his ADLs. She is the epitome of wife and helpmate.
Brad has a long road to recovery ahead of him. He will need all sorts of physical, occupational, and other forms of therapy to gain back that which has been damaged by this brain injury.
Brad's family needs our help!! The cost of travel, hotel expenses, hospital, emergency services to date have been overwhelming. That is just the tip of financial strain the family has yet to incurr as they seek out a rehab facility where Brad can focus on his recovery.
