family needs help for child with brain tumor
Donation protected
We are starting this gofundme on behalf of a family in need who are close to our hearts.
In 2017 their daughter was rushed to hospital due to headaches and blurry vision. An MRI showed a tumor in her brain and she was hospitalized, put on hypertension medications and had multiple spinal taps to relieve the pressure caused by the tumor. Doctors wanted to watch and wait, so for over a year she has been on meds and in and out of the hospital repeating the MRIs. Now the MRI scan shows that the tumor has grown.
Doctors at the Children’s Hospital met with her family and they immediately started a new protocol. They are using both Western and Integrative (alternative) medical approaches including:
- Ketogenic diet (cancer cells live on glucose, but Keto starves them out!)
- Dietician appointments
- Naturopath appointments
- Immune supplements
- Child Therapist specializing in health crisis
- Acupuncture treatments for stress
- Homeopathic appointments
- Hyperbaric oxygen treatments
This ordeal has taken a massive emotional and financial toll on this family. Her mother is a small business owner, insurance coverage is very limited, and time off work for hospital stays and appointments has meant her mother cannot work her normal schedule and as a result they’re losing $500 a week in income. Also, as you can imagine, the family is accruing huge medical bills and debt to try to get their daughter the best care possible and hold it all together. Any support you can offer would be greatly appreciated and would go a long way.
We hope to raise $12,000 to cover the medical bills and immediate and ongoing costs for treatments and supplements. The doctors want to schedule her for brain surgery in April 2019. They are implementing these complementary Western and Integrative protocols in hopes of arresting tumor growth so that surgeons will NOT need to remove a fold of her brain.
A little info about this young lady in need:
She is a gifted student in 9th grade and has been playing piano since age 3, guitar since she was 7 and more recently she took up harp as she was accepted to attend a public high school for the arts. She has three brothers, aged 11, 3 and 1. She writes her own music, sings, and loves a good book. She first recorded one of her original songs at age 11. She is now 14 and is still writing and composing. At this point she is constantly worried, frightened and having trouble sleeping. Last season she couldn't play softball due to illness. And now, rather than focusing on high school, friends, and playing her music she is facing the most terrifying experience of her young life.
Please, PLEASE help us support this family in their time of crisis.
All funds will be withdrawn by Sarah LeMay's sister, Caron LeMay, and directly deposited into her own account. From there, she will be delivering the funds to her family. Thank you for your support!
