Update: June 4th, 2024....

Colby is 2 1/2 weeks old! He was born emergency c-section on the 17th of May at 12:56 in the early morning! He is so close to 5 pounds and only a little bit over a foot long! After a week in the NICU he was moved over to the ICC so they could continue to keep an eye on his back which still had an open wound after birth. He was on a cpap for just a few hours and has been breathing room air ever since. He still has a feeding tube, but oral feedings have been started after he started showing some good signs of being hungry during feeding time and has been taking about 35% of his feedings by bottle! Which is amazing progress for his age! Just last week the neurosurgeon decided it would be best if they sutured the rest of his back by pulling the skin to the center and putting in some stitches. He finished his first week of antibiotics and is now on a different oral antibiotic just to make sure he doesn’t pick up any infections. He currently can not lay on his back so he has already been working on some tummy time which he doesn’t seem to mind. His left foot is also hyper-flexed upward, where his toes were touching his shin bone. He has also been receiving therapy for that which is showing progress!!

We are still making weekly trips to Minneapolis to get in some snuggles, but he won’t be able to officially come home until his back has healed. They will start practicing back time in a couple weeks. We can not wait to have all of the kids under one roof!
