On July 5th, fireworks from a neighboring property caught our house on fire. Seven of us, my entire immediate family, got out safely, along with our five dogs, but we lost everything else. The house, our belongings, all of it, gone. We didn’t have homeowner’s insurance because of a bad roof, so there’s no policy to fall back on. Red Cross gave us some emergency funds, but it’s nowhere near enough for a family this size. Right now we’re scattered just to have a roof over our heads. The family members plus four of our dogs are packed into a converted garage a neighbor is letting us use. It’s not sustainable past a couple nights.
Any amount helps. This money goes directly toward emergency housing for all seven of us, basic supplies and clothes, most of us escaped with just what we were wearing. We’re not asking for a handout to sit on, we’re trying to get our footing back under seven people who lost everything at once.
Thank you for reading this, and thank you even more if you’re able to give or share.
