Update.
Dad is still in a coma and we are waiting on answers in order to make any plans with mum. Her dementia illness is making things hard and better all at the same time.
Thankyou to everyone for messages and help. It means the world.
my names Samantha and right now things are hard with family illness and distance.
Doing a go fund me page is something I never thought I would need to do...but pride and embarrassment has been overshadowed by panic and fear.
Mum and dad are in their 80's and live in tenerife and I live in the UK. Mums living with dimentia and dad is her main carer.
Dad became ill suddenly last week and is now in a coma in tenerife.
I have got to tenerife but since mum's diagnosis I have used my savings visiting every few weeks and I now just don't know how I'm going to manage financially until I can get at least get access to my parents finances. I'm in the process of getting advice on this as dad has power of attorney on all finance but its yet another unknown.
I have arranged sitters for my son and the dogs but that's as far ahead as I can look right now. I have to pay medical translaters hourly to get information on my dads condition and to help with everything else.
I need to get temporary private care to help with mum until a decision can be made on bringing mum home.
If you can help in any way I would really appreciate it and i will update you as this emergency unfolds.
If you are unable to donate could you please share this post, I absolutely get that times are hard for most right now and I am very greatful for the time you have taken to read this post.
Money aside, please tell your loved ones you love them today as tomorrow is not promised to anyone.
On a practical level, If you have parents living abroad have the conversation as soon as they go, on passwords, finance, all the things you will need to know if the worst does happen.
God bless and thankyou.
