Family man and true warrior

Donation protected
This is SSG(R) Eric Kelly, United States Army.
Eric and I served together at Fort Bragg, NC, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and others…Eric is a Paratrooper, an 82nd Airborne Division Combat Veteran of two deployments, but more importantly a father, husband and brother for life.

Eric was living life this week, communing on his motorcycle when a truck stuck him. Eric suffered life threatening injuries and needed life saving surgery. Like a true Viking warrior not ready to yet leave for Valhalla, he sent the Valkyrie on their way.

He remains hospitalized, in a coma, in the Surgical Trauma ICU in a ventilator. With multiple broken bones and many other injuries including brain injury, he and his family need our help.

Eric is the kind of man who would not only give you the shirt off his back, but the skin along with it if you needed. Always straightforward, always fair, always larger than life. His wife Rachel keeps vigil at the bedside while still trying to maintain normalcy for his two young boys.

For those of us who served with him, it’s time to honor the Soldiers Creed and Army values and “never leave a fallen comrade…” For those who did not, maybe we can give a little something back to a man who gave so much for his country. Eric is not only my friend and comrade, but saved my life in more ways than one, both figuratively and literally.

Money isn’t everything but it would certainly help ease some of the anxiety. When Eric pulls through he has a long recovery ahead of him. He will require inpatient rehab, occupational therapy, physical therapy and have to learn to do simple things we take for granted all over again.

I’m posting my personal contact information for anyone who wants to reach out to the family or has questions as to the intent and where the funds will go. I’ll post updates as Rachel and their privacy allow. I’ll be a arriving in Dallas shortly, and staying until 5/9. My plan is to return as often as I can and as often as needed.

Please let’s reflect on our own good fortune, show some empathy, and help a the family of a man, the world we be a much better place if there were more like him…

Thank you and God Bless!
