My name is Demetrius Reyes, and I’m the son of a single mother who raised seven children on her own after becoming a widow. On February 24, 2026, at approximately 12:00 AM, a fire ripped through our home, and left everyone with only the clothes on their backs.
In a matter of minutes, everything my mother worked so hard to build was gone. She didn’t just lose a house. She lost years of memories, personal belongings, furniture, clothing, important documents, and the place we called home. As a single mother, she has sacrificed so much to provide stability, love, and support for all seven of us. Watching her face this loss is heartbreaking.
We are incredibly grateful that everyone made it out safely. That alone is a blessing we do not take for granted. But now, our family is starting over with nothing.
