Quintana Family In Need of Help Due to Home Fire

Hello my name is Daniel. My wife Dianne, our son Brandon, and myself find ourselves in a difficult situation amongst all the world’s difficulties out there today. I am torn on having to ask for assistance, but understand that I must, if we are to get through this. Due to unfortunate circumstances we lost everything in our apartment due to a kitchen fire. A cooking fire quickly engulfed the kitchen. I got a fire extinguisher and turned it off. Soot, smoke, and residue was everywhere. The Fire Department arrived vented the home, and gave the all clear. Unfortunately, we could not go back in due to all three of us having multiple chronic medical conditions. Also Dianne has had difficulties recovering from a recent cervical spinal fusion. So, we thought it better if we went to a hotel for the evening. We would then gather our thoughts in the morning. The next morning, at 9:30AM, we received a call that the fire had restarted at 5:30AM. That it was caught in the walls and had rekindled. That the FD, by no fault of their own, had missed it. The FD was called and had to cut a hole in our door to gain access. They hosed everything in the kitchen and living room. They then broke the walls and ceiling to gain direct access to the fire and make sure it was out. A neighbor was told by the FD that it appeared that asbestos was released when they broke the walls. A test was ordered and the result was positive for asbestos. The apartment was deemed a hazardous condition and all locks were changed and all agencies received notice. Our contents were considered a total loss. On March 31, 2020 and April 1, 2020 we lost everything. We had to pay for the hazmat disposal of our personal property since it was a cooking fire. During the height of Covid 19, we were initially displaced in hotels and most recently at an AirBnB. Dianne has been on long-term disability due to her difficult recovery. We now find ourselves 4 months later starting over while very short on the funds to do so, but we must. Medications, food, appliances, furniture, clothes, shoes, and more are needed to start over. This past May 18, Dianne and I celebrated 24 years of marriage. We have had our share of great moments and great difficulties. She is my soulmate and I hers. We will get through this together, hand in hand, as we dry each other’s tears and celebrate life. We thank you with all our hearts for any assistance you may be able to provide us.
