My family has been completely uprooted by a devastating medical crisis, and we are desperately in need of a safe place to call home. While pregnant with my daughter, who was diagnosed with a severe single-ventricle heart defect called HLHS, I was abandoned by my partner just weeks before our planned move. I packed up our life alone, caring for my 1-year-old son, and drove across the country while traveling for critical medical appointments.

On May 8th, I gave birth via C-section to my daughter, Gabbi. Doctors told me she had only a 10% chance of survival and gently suggested I take her home to pass naturally. I was shattered. But Gabbi fought. After months in the hospital and living at the Ronald McDonald House, she has survived two major open-heart surgeries and is now a beautiful, thriving baby ready to finally come home.

I am a single mother and Gabbi’s sole caregiver. Ive had to sacrifice my career due to her medical needs, and every bit of savings I had is gone. Housing plans have fallen apart one by one. Because of Gabbi’s fragile health, she cannot be discharged to a shelter—we must have a physical home address. Without stable housing, I am facing the unthinkable possibility of my children being separated from me until I can get back on my feet.

What should be a joyful holiday season has become a terrifying countdown. I am exhausted, scared, and doing everything I can to hold my family together.
