Hi everyone, we’re asking for some help on behalf of my family. We just recently moved to the poconos about 6 months ago from New Jersey. We are new to the area and still adjusting. My oldest son just recently started kindergarten. A few weeks ago we noticed some mold on some of our belongings. As time went by more and more of our belongings began rapidly growing mold on them. Our clothes our shoes our furniture, and eventually all over the walls of our home. the mold was so severe we were forced to get rid of most of our belongings at this point. My two kids ages 5 and 3 have now developed flu like symptoms that will not let up, eventually the symptoms turned into vomitting and excruciating pain, doctors initially treated my children for allergies but then later asked if there was possible mold exposure. Now we are forced to vacate our home. We do have a history of asthma which makes this situation even harder. Our landlord was notified of the mold but has not been helpful to us in anyway. Once informed she was more concerned with getting us out the home and advertising it for new tenants rather than working with us to come to some sort of conclusion. Landlord is asking us to vacate in a week before receiving our security deposit. We are now in a situation where we have two sick babies, quickly looking for a new place to move because we can no longer stay in our home because the mold is too severe. We have to start from scratch because we have now lost all of our belongings. We are just asking for some support to help us get on our feet and find a roof to put over our head and begin replacing atleast our clothing to prepare the kids for the cold weather coming up. This has been such a devastating experience as a family to go through such difficult times with limited time and no resources.
