Family in Crisis due to DOGE Layoffs

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jennifer McCarty-Charette, and I truly appreciate you for taking a moment to read our story. Like thousands of people across the country, my husband and I have both been blindsided by layoffs initiated by DOGE. I was working remotely out of the Anchorage, Alaska municipality for a longtime federal contractor for the EPA out of Virgina, and my husband, who had been working for another company, had just accepted an offer from the same company when an immediate termination notice came in from the government.

As if that wasn’t enough, last month, our house flooded after a sudden rise in temperatures and two 100 mph Chinook winds blew through the Eagle River valley. Our house is dry, and in the coming months, we were planning to hire people to help with flood remediation with income from our new jobs, while paying off debts and making future plans.

In our household, we have two young children, ages 7 and 10, and an orange tabby cat. In addition, we recently welcomed my sister-in-law into our home to provide her a place to stay while she got back on her feet and into her own house.

Any money donated will go to paying our mortgage, bills, food and gas while we are on our job hunt. Any amount you’re willing to contribute is so deeply appreciated, and if you’re unable to contribute money at this time, sharing our story with your friends and family would mean the world to us. Thank you very much for your time.
