FAMILY HOME RUINED BY COWBOY BUILDER

Hello Everybody,

I have decided to set up this page to support my close friends, Luke & Holli, who have fallen victim to cowboy builders, who promised to complete the last stage of a Home Development - a single storey extension on their home to create more space for their family to grow into.

I wish to help them recuperate as much of the money they have put in as possible so they can start to get their home back to some normality.

Luke & Holli paid £28,500 only to be forced to live and sleep in 1 room, leaving a Mum, Dad & Daughter left with dangerous structural movement & damage which is not covered by their buildings insurance.

The Builder didn’t get a single thing passed off by building control during the whole process and Calderdale Council had to step in and threaten them with legal action because the work was such a poor standard.

They have contacted the builder directly with a formal letter of complaint asking for a partial refund of the £28,500 that they have paid them, but he has point blank refused, shown no intention of resolution and will not give the details of his insurers.

Unfortunately court isn’t an option, as the builder has already been taken to court in 2022 for a sum of £850 which he has still not cleared, so the reality of getting anywhere near the 28,500 looks pretty bleak.

Luke & Holli are working on contacting their local counsellor to raise awareness and push for more legislation to put in place for situations like this and we are hoping for it to be raised in Parliament, as they wish to ensure that this doesn't happen to anyone else.

This young family work hard to build a future for themselves so to see someone incapable of building a structure whilst claiming to be a professional doesn’t sit well.

Any contribution would be greatly appreciated to help them rebuild the mess these "builders" have made, as their lives have been completely turned upside down. Their home is no longer a safe space for them or their baby girl.
