My name is Collin King, I am writing on behalf of Sampson and Georgina Gyan and their family. Early Monday morning, Dec. 27th, 2021, they lost everything to a massive fire. Their son, Francis, who was home on Christmas break from college was awoken by a loud male voice repeating the words, “I am going to burn it” as he started a fire outside the front door. Luckily Francis had immediately began waking his family, as the fire was fast moving and had already reached the front room. He woke his father, Sampson, who then broke out the rear windows and got his family out to safety. Albeit lightly clothed and without shoes, they were safe and together as they watched the only home they have known in America, as well as all their belongings go up in flames
They are a family of 6 and have lost everything, furnishings, family photos, clothing, phones, as well two new Christmas laptops bought for their college bound daughters and melted Georgina's car.
Twenty years ago, as fresh immigrants from Ghana, this small apartment became their home. In which They successfully raised their four children from childhood immigrants to successful teens bound for college. Francis currently plays ball at Skagit Valley College, Amanda is set for Bellevue Community College, Angie is a senior at Renton High, and Matilda is just completing school at Dimmitt Middle School.
For over 20 years Sampson has worked night shift at Walmart and has received many company awards for his efforts. Georgina is a CNA working in the home healthcare field.
THIS INCREDIBLE FAMILY NOT ONLY NEEDS A BOOST THEY DESERVE IT!
They are grateful members of our community and represent ALL that is possible and all that is GOOD about America!
Please join me in helping them get back into a home, so they can continue doing their real job, raising productive, contributing and college bound kids!
