On Tuesday December 22nd 2020, our family lost our cornerstone, our father Vincent Dana Antonio Goodman passed away in our home after a well fought battle with COVID-19 while tending to type 2 diabetes. Being the protective man he sought to be, our father contracted the coronavirus after spending every moment tending to his family who were suffering from the virus initially. Though the virus affected him physically, his spirit remained undefeated and vowed to defeat the virus. Sadly, after battling so hard, my father’s struggle with COVID ended suddenly in our home. There are no words to express the depth of love we held for him and the void now that now exists in his absence.
Vincent Goodman’s presence lit up every dark room and will continue forever, to beam over all of us. The light that he carried illuminated of all those who he encountered. My father was not only displayed a fatherly figure in our lives but in the lives of many who surrounded him. Regardless of any circumstance he always put the emotions and health of others first before worrying about himself, he expected nothing in return. He was a selfless man. He worked hard every day to make sure food was on the table and that his family was well taken care off. Even though he was barely home his presence always seemed to stick with us, we can just remember his voice hovering over us trying to motivate us to do the right thing. For the last 20 years, our father was the sole provider for our family. Working at least 72 hours a week between 2 jobs, Vincent Goodman Sr did everything he could to ensure that our family maintained financial stability and security. Our mother Nurys Goodman who has been with him for over 23 amazing years, was a homemaker and solely depended on our Father to provide benefits and support. Our mother is doing her best to stay strong after losing the love of her life. In addition to her emotional anguish, our mother has health complications to which our Father served her every need.
Now in our time of need we ask that all of those who knew him and loved him for, any and all help. We are trying to raise money to keep our family together, as well as the ability to honor our father in the way that he deserves. We are adjusting to picking up the responsibilities that our father so gracefully carried. But one of the hardest parts of all of this is being left with all the financial stress that comes with organizing a funeral, taking care of bills, and all of the other necessities of our family. Vincent Goodman left behind 6 children: Theodosia, Aspen, John, Naya, Rai, and Vincent Goodman Jr, and his granddaughter: Nuria. We are sincerely thanking you in advance for helping our family.
