Family Fire Fund for Caroline, Cylas, Aribella, and Bo
Donation protected
On April 19th at around 7:30pm, a phone notification from a smoke detector alerted members of my family of smoke inside their home, a historic church-turned-duplex in Micanopy, FL. Alachua County Fire Rescue was sent to the home where they were bravely able to save two cats, six ducks, and one dog that is currently in critical condition at UF Health Veterinary Hospital. Sadly, their beloved family dog, Killian, perished in the home before firefighters were able to enter. All humans are thankfully safe and accounted for, but are understandably devastated by this tragic situation and will dearly miss Killian.
It's likely that a spark from behind the first-level kitchen stove flew onto something flammable nearby, creating a fire that scorched the back of the home - a traumatic reminder of how easily that which we often take for granted can be gone in a matter of minutes.
I'm raising funds to help my sister-in-law, Caroline Roach, as she begins the painstaking and expensive process of rebuilding her home and life inside the church. She is a social worker and mental health counselor, a single mom, and an active member of the Micanopy community.
Caroline and her children, Cylas and Aribella, her stepson, Jacob, and his fiancee Olivia, appreciate any help you can provide, as do I. We've witnessed the power of community to rise up with support in times of need and are grateful to anyone who considers donating to this fund.
