Family Doubling in Less than a Heartbeat

Donation protected

Life can change in a flash. In this case, it was a heartbeat that has caused two families to now become one.

Over this past family day weekend, Faisal LeBars, the father of the 4 children pictured above passed away suddenly. A simple hospital trip for a worsening leg pain turned into emergency surgery.  Faisal, and his family, had zero time to prepare for this.  Before going into surgery, the doctors advised him that his situation was much worse than suspected.  They found a leg clot which believed had travelled from his heart, which has been in AFib for a prolonged time, and his heart now has less than 15% functionality. His condition only worsened from there, the surgery was unsuccessful, and his heart worsened. A catastrophic stroke and successive heart attack removed a chance for recovery. Faisal passed away later that day.

Faisal left behind 4 children who loved him and miss him very much; two boys aged 8 and 6, and 5-year-old twin girls. Due to circumstances beyond control, with Faisal having sole custody before passing, and the birth mother unable to take the children for private reasons, the children were essentially rendered orphans.

That brings me to the reason I’m writing this post.

My step-mother and Faisal’s sister, Sarita Knoop, and her husband/my father, David Knoop, have decided to extend their arms and welcome these children into their own family. This is not the first time they have done this. They adopted a second child 10+ years ago and raised him as their second son. Through the goodness of their heart they could not let the children go into the foster system. They want to provide them with a family to grow up in with lots of love and support.

My parents and these children are going to require your support to help them off on the right track. The biggest item that they need support for is a new house. One that will provide space for them, their second son, the 4 children, and the children’s grandparents who will move in with them to help support the children. Their current home is much too small to support this doubling family. The children also need new furniture such as beds and dressers; clothes, and other essentials for their new home. Support is also needed to help with childcare when needed, either before/after school or school breaks.

My parents are the kind of people who are always helping others out. Asking for support and sharing this is very hard for them, so my wife and I wanted to help out and share this message for them. All your love and support will be much appreciated in this difficult time.
