Family Day At The Farm

Tax deductible
Doug and Chelsey Browning & their children have a peaceful little farm in Friendswood, TX. It has always been a dream of Chelsey’s to have a farm, to have her own horses on her farm, and to teach people to ride them because she’s had a passion for it since she was very young.

So began Storybook Farm. It is run as a 501c3, because they do animal rescue and fostering. During any usual week you’ll find Chelsey outside with people of all ages on any one of their 6 equine teaching them to care for, ride, appreciate, and properly handle them in all situations. Also, this is how she brings in income that helps RUN the farm. It keeps the babies fed, vetted, keeps upgrade projects and upkeep projects going, and she currently cannot do riding lessons at all.

She LOVES teaching riding lessons. She literally gushes about and loves all her students the lessons and the farm seriously bring her heart so much joy. She loves being outside and the slower motion of a farm, communing with her babies, raising chicks and ducklings, gathering their eggs, offering what they don’t use to others. I’ve already mentioned the equine- horses, ponies, a mini horse, and a donkey named Kevin that will seriously tickle your funny bone. Goats toddling around and causing all kinds of trouble. A giant tortoise, who doesn’t know his own strength- and is an escape artist! Rabbits galore...the kids are in FFA so you are gonna see some show-stoppers. One FINE spoiled rotten miniature pig- Poppy Picklepants. Another dream come true. Dogs, cats, a very prickly lap-cactus hedgie named Pixie...and a loverly aquarium full of fish she takes joy in all of them.

Usually they do “Farm Day” the first Saturday of the month where volunteers from school kids wanting to earn service hours, to riding students wanting extra time with the horses, to community members who have (by word-of-mouth) heard about this cute little farm and want to help for a chance to meet and pet all the babies. However, May 1 is going to be impossible because Mrs. Chelsey just had some serious stage 3 Mohs excision and reconstructive surgery on her face. She can’t teach for weeks. So as I mentioned before, no farm income. But, some friends and I are going to try and pull off the impossible and throw together an all dayish Storybook Farm “Mommy and Me” Meet the Farm FunDRaiser. We are going to need some help.

It’s going to be quick quick coming up on May 8, 2021. Our idea is that the actual DAY OF will be split into three sections:

Morning— Mommy and Me pictures
Afternoon- Meet the Farm animals
Evening- Disney movie, pizza and popcorn with Poppy

Volunteers will be needing in the days leading up to the 8th to help with ideas and build up, set up, and decoration of three photo op stations.

We have a super cute farm animal cut out picture op for meet the farm but we need someone with a steady hand to actually use a saw to cut out the holes for people to put their faces through and it also needs to be clear coated.

Volunteers will be needed to provide donated lemonade (no-pulp Simply Lemonade) and bagged (three cookies to a bag) cookies for a lemonade stand; proceeds to benefit Storybook farm.

Volunteers will be needed to act as docents for the meet and greets with the animals.*
*(this job may have been assigned)

Volunteers will be needed to donate palates of waters, sodas, any other drinks that will be available all day; proceeds to benefit Storybook Farm.*
*(as many volunteers as wish to participate)

Volunteers will be needed to purchase and donate pizzas for the Pizza and Popcorn with Poppy; proceeds to benefit Storybook Farm *
*(not expected to be expensive pizza, CiCis or Little Cesars is AOK, and as we are limiting it to the first 20 to respond we are talking 8-10 pizzas. It could be split up by 2-3 people easily.)

Volunteers will be needed to donate decorations for the day.*
*as many as wish can sign up

Volunteers will be needed in the few days before to spruce up the farm. This is a great opportunity for kids who need to fulfill service hours to get a few in. But anyone is invited to help. If we have enough we may only need a day or two. I’ll be onsite to advise.*
*as many as wish can sign up

DAY OF: as we go, it should become apparent how many people we will need onsite as volunteers the day of. So, we will put that call out when we come up with that number.

With that said, call in favors from friends who are professional cookie bakers and have them donate a batch or two of adorabubble Mother’s Day cookies! Bag ‘em three each, put a fancy ribbon on it, and voila!

I’ll post pictures of past events in the next day or two to give you an idea of what Mrs. Chelsey has done in the past and you’ll see what WE are up against. It may be an impossible standard but we are using HER village to get this done!

If you cannot help out on the day of event, please please please feel free to make your donation to the cause through this GoFundMe and know that every penny of your donation goes straight to the 501c3 for Storybook Farm.

Thank you for loving Chelsey and her family and helping support her dreams during this difficult recovery time. ️❤️❤️❤️
