Family Cycling for Ukraine

Don protégé
Hi,

I am David, a nine-year old boy from Bolzano/Bozen (Italy), and I love cycling. Two years ago, my family went on a bike trip to collect donations for a charity in Cape Town which was fighting against the Covid-related food crisis in the townships.

Now I have a new idea. I will grab my mountain bike on Saturday, 30 April and together with my family will cycle from my hometown to the Lake Garda which is around 110 km including a climb of 400 m. The next day, I will cycle back as many kilometers as possible, perhaps even all the way home.

All funds collected will be transferred to the Polish Humanitarian Action ’s aid to war victims in Ukraine. This NGO has been operating since 1992 to tackle humanitarian crises in over 40 countries from Somalia to Syria. Currently, the organization also provides aid to war victims in Ukraine in collaboration with its local partners Tovaristvo Leva and the Ukrainian Red Cross. Here you can find an overview of their activities in Ukraine  so far.

To enable you to follow our trip we will track and document the two stages of our tour using the App Komoot and share our updates on this webpage below.

My parents will contribute 1 EUR for each kilometer travelled on my bike. Would you also be willing to make a donation? Perhaps other families would start similar projects and donate 1 EUR for each kilometer that their children cycle, run, hike, etc. for this charity or any other? Do you know someone else who could be willing to support our initiative? Please share this link.

Thank you!
