Support Kari's Community After Fire Loss

My name is Dawn Trachtenberg and like many of you, I have a deep personal connection to the fires devastating Southern California. While I live on the east coast, NYC and The Berkshires, I know so many people that have lost everything. The devastation is incomprehensible!

I am raising funds for the family and friends of my family that have lost their homes and everything within them.

My sister Kari and her family have lived in Pasadena for the past 30 years, and my parents purchased a home on the same street to live a bi-coastal life. When my mom isn’t with us here on the East Coast, she’s in Pasadena. She was preparing to head back to California when the fires began.

The Eaton Fire has been a terrifying and heartbreaking experience for Kari and her family. Some of them have been forced to evacuate, while others stayed but could see the fire from their yards (the picture was taken in Kari’s front yard). Their community has been devastated—Kari’s family alone knows of 15 friends and family members who have lost their homes, along with at least 11 families from their church. Here are just a few of their names - Sharon, Linda, Crystal, Scott, Aaron, and the list goes on. The destruction has hit so many lives, and the road to recovery feels overwhelming.

Kari and her husband Ken are doing everything they can to support their community. They’ve opened our mom’s home to one family who lost everything while they figure out their next steps. But the needs are immense—essentials like bottled water, clothing, food, gift cards for supplies, and funds to secure temporary housing are urgently required.

We are setting up this fundraiser for Kari and Ken to help their neighbors rebuild. Every dollar will go directly to supporting these families as they navigate this devastating time. No gift is too small—it all makes a difference. Please join us in standing with these families as they work to regain stability and rebuild their lives.
