When a baby is lost, time becomes the most precious and painful gift a family can be given. Cold cots allow grieving parents to spend longer with their child, creating memories, saying goodbye at their own pace, and beginning a process no one is ever truly prepared for. Without them, those moments are heartbreakingly brief. Fundraising for cold cots is about compassion in its purest form—it ensures that families facing unimaginable loss are given the dignity, space, and time they need to hold their baby, to love them, and to remember them. In the darkest moments, this small act of care can make a lasting difference that families carry with them forever.
On the 24th May 8:14am myself and Abbie were heartbreakingly robbed of the time we should have had with our precious son Grayson. Without a cold cot available in A&E at the time every moment became a race against time, and we were forced to say goodbye far to soon because he had already been out in the heat for too long. The grief in those moments was overwhelming, raw, painful and impossible to put into words. There was no space to pause, to breathe, or to truly hold onto those final memories every parent deserves. The emotions were horrendous, filled with shock, sorrow, and a deep, aching sense of loss that no family should have to rush through. That is why we are so determined to help other families, so that they never have to face the same unbearable experience of having their precious time taken away as we will ensure that A&E have a cold cot at all times.
