Hi,
Our names are Alysia and Andrew Wojnalowicz and we are the proud parents of our beautiful daughter, Haven Drew, who was stillborn on January 24, 2025. Haven Drew was supposed to be our third and final baby, but sadly we had to say our goodbyes too soon as we found out she had passed away in the womb at 20 weeks. After finding out about the passing of our daughter, Alysia had to be induced and go through labour and delivery to bring our daughter into this world. The experience was very traumatic, heartbreaking and beautiful in it's own way as we were able to hold our daughter and tell her how much we love her. We only got a short 7 hours with her before we had to say our final goodbye and leave with only a memory box of a handful of keepsakes.
We never thought we would have ever gone through this or become a part of the loss parent club. It is a club that no one wants to be apart of, but a community full of such amazing families that truly understand the pain you go through when losing a baby or child. In addition to getting to know many other loss parents, we heard their stories and we knew that we wanted to do something to help other families in the same position or ones that would be going through it. We are dedicated to honouring Haven Drew and keeping her spirit alive by doing whatever we can to help other loss parents going through stillbirth or infant loss.
So, we have decided to start a fundraiser to raise money to donate CuddleCots and/or care packages to the hospital Haven was born at as well as other nearby hospitals in Ontario, Canada. CuddleCots are crucial item that we would like available to all stillbirth or infant loss families as it provides continuous cooling, which would allow families to hold their baby without concerns about temperature fluctuations from body heat. This extended time enables parents to take photos, create precious memories, allow extended family to travel and meet the baby, receive support, and make arrangements without feeling rushed. Through hearing many stories we have heard that numerous parents time were cut short with their babies, because their hospital did not have a CuddleCot available and we would like to change this in as many places as we can.
In addition, if hospitals are already equipped with a CuddleCot we would like to donate keepsakes for the parents to remember their baby (blankets, keepsake boxes, footprint kits, teddybears, sweartshirts, picture frame, etc.). In cases where we are unable to select the items, we will be giving a monetary donation in Haven Drew's name. As loss parents, we know how important those memory keepsakes become after saying goodbye. We hope with time we can also expand our donations into other avenues to help support loss parents.
We know times are already difficult for most of us financially, but we appreciate anything you can donate to this very important cause to help support these families during a difficult time of grief and loss.
Thank you in advance for honouring our beautiful Haven with your donation.
Alysia and Andrew Wojnalowicz and family.
