My name is Dr. Tracey Spence-Golaub, and my heart is with the people of Westmoreland, Jamaica, the place I lived and called home. I grew up and later worked in Whitehouse, and I also built my home and lived in Hatfield, two vibrant communities in Westmoreland that hold a special place in my heart.

Both communities were among the many areas devastated by Hurricane Melissa, which destroyed homes, personal belongings, and livelihoods. Many families have been left displaced, struggling to recover, and suffering in the aftermath as they face the loss of their way of life, shelter, and basic necessities.

Through local contacts, I’ve learned about the urgent needs of affected families, including food, water, personal items, and materials to rebuild even a part of their homes. Many have lost everything, some are sleeping outside, while others are sheltering with relatives or in overcrowded spaces. I am raising funds to help families who have been severely impacted, by assisting with basic personal needs and contributing towards building materials.

Trusted local persons will use the funds to purchase supermarket vouchers, to be given to persons allowing families to obtain essential personal supplies such as food and hygiene products. Additionally, a portion of the funds will go toward the rebuilding process, assisting persons in obtaining materials they need to repair their homes.
