United for Edgar’s freedom and the well-being of his children

Hello, my name is Fer. I am a mother of four and the wife of a wonderful man. I am Colombian and have lived in Pennsylvania for 9 years. Today, I am going through one of the most difficult trials of my life.

My husband, Edgar Ortiz Mizquero—known to many as “Negrito”—was detained by ICE in front of our home while on his way to work on November 5, 2024. It all happened like a movie: several cars blocked him and took him away. Since then, he has been in custody. We have already started the legal process with an attorney and are currently waiting for the final court hearing, which has faced many setbacks. This has been, in a way, an illegal process as he hasn't been granted due process. We also filed a habeas corpus petition on December 12, but we are still waiting for a response.

Edgar has lived in the United States for 25 years. Here, he has built his life, his family, his friendships, his church, and his dreams. We had an ongoing process toward legal status, but unfortunately, that was not taken into account during this painful moment.

Our communication has been limited, but thank God he is in good health, though his spirits are low. At this point, we are already selling our house because it is impossible to cover our expenses, and we must make hard decisions. Even so, we firmly trust that God will bring freedom and restoration to our family.

Our Current Situation

We are a family of six:

Joel (7 years old)

Antonia (5 years old)

The twins, Amelia and Anaia (1 year and 3 months)

And me, Fer, a full-time mom.

With Edgar’s detention, I have been left alone in charge of our home, the children, and all expenses. My family is in Colombia, and although I have the emotional support of my husband’s family and our church, the financial responsibilities are overwhelming.

Currently, I need to cover:

Mortgage payments (to avoid losing our home completely as foreclosure proceedings have begun).

Legal fees for Edgar’s attorney, which are very high.

Basic expenses for food and the needs of our children and babies.

Ayuda a la Familia Ortiz Rojas en este Tiempo Difícil

Unidos por la libertad de Edgar y el bienestar de sus hijos

Hola, mi nombre es Fer, Mamá de 4 y esposa de un hombre maravilloso soy colombiana, vivo en Pensilvania desde hace 9 años y hoy atravieso una de las pruebas más difíciles de mi vida.

Mi esposo, Edgar Ortiz Mizquero, conocido por muchos como “Negrito”, fue detenido por ICE frente a nuestro hogar mientras se dirigía a su trabajo el 5 noviembre 2024. Todo ocurrió como en una película: varios carros se atravesaron y se lo llevaron. Desde entonces, se encuentra retenido hemos instaurado ya el proceso contamos con un abogado y en este momento estamos a la espera de la corte final la cual ha tenido muchos contratiempos , este ha sido un proceso ilegal de cierta manera ya que no le han permitido el debido proceso !! Paralelamente pedimos un habeas corpus pero este está desde el 12 de diciembre y aún no dan respuesta,

Edgar lleva 25 años viviendo en Estados Unidos. Aquí ha construido su vida, su familia, sus amigos, su iglesia y sus sueños. Teníamos un proceso en marcha hacia la legalidad, pero lamentablemente eso no fue tenido en cuenta en este momento tan doloroso.

Nuestra comunicación ha sido limitada, pero gracias a Dios él está bien de salud, aunque su ánimo se ve afectado , ha este punto ya estamos vendiendo nuestra casa porque es imposible solventar gastos , y debemos tomar decisiones ! Aun así, confiamos firmemente en que Dios traerá libertad y restauración a nuestra familia.

Nuestra situación actual

Somos una familia de seis:

• Joel (7 años)

• Antonia (5 años)

• Las gemelas Amelia y Anaia (1 año y 3 meses)

• Y yo, Fer, mamá a tiempo completo.

Con la detención de Edgar, quedé sola a cargo del hogar, de los niños y de todos los gastos.

Mi familia está en Colombia, y aunque cuento con el apoyo emocional de la familia de mi esposo y nuestra iglesia, las responsabilidades económicas me sobrepasan.

En este momento debo cubrir:

• Pagos de nuestra casa (para evitar perderla completamente ya que empezó nuestro proceso de embargo)

• Honorarios legales del abogado de Edgar el cual es alto

• Gastos básicos de alimentación y necesidades de nuestros hijos y bebés
