Falls for Jodie

Donation protected

Inspired by the months before John Hinckley's attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan,
"Falls For Jodie" by Eric Micha Holmes is an imagined account of Hinckley’s strange partnership with a concierge at a hotel next to the Yale campus, who tries to help Hinckley win the affections of his
child-star crush.

Hello, my name is Trevor Vaughn, and I am returning to my home state of Texas to share this vital new play!

Growing up in Mckinney, Texas, I learned at an early age that artists are the shamans of their
communities. Theatre can be an instrument of positive change, and when the winds of inspiration
command a certain story for a certain time, there is no denying it. This inspiration calls me back home from Brooklyn, where I now live, to produce "Falls For Jodie" with friend/playwright Eric Micha
Holmes and friend/director Isaac Klein. The workshop will star yours truly alongside friend/actor
Michael Paul. We will engage audiences to open up a dialogue about some of the most critical issues
our country faces today. Each performance will have a talk back directly afterwards.

The purpose of the October 4th to 6th workshop is to help audiences make connections between the sociopolitical landscape of 1980 and what is happening in our country today. Gun control, mental
illness, celebrityism, and white radicalization are themes that will be explored in the play.

Theatre isn't cheap, but thanks to my brilliant sister, the professor Dr. Holley Vaughn, the University
of North Texas Department of Communications has graciously offered their blackbox theater and
new lighting equipment to develop "Falls for Jodie."

While UNT has helped hugely to make our production possible,

WE ARE IN NEED OF FINANCIAL GRASSROOTS SUPPORT TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

Your generous support will enable us to engage local audiences in timely conversations about
America's past, present, and future. Every penny will go to essential production costs, such as
costumes, props, publicity, set design, and last but not least, flying our cast and creative team to
Texas. We will also need to feed and transport them while they are here, and hopefully even be able
to offer them a small honorarium. These funds will be put into effect immediately for the
performances that will be held October 4th to 6th.

Your financial support would mean the world to us, and would give first Texas flight to a play I believe is destined for professional theaters and high schools across the state.  Your support would also allow us to invite theater professionals and teachers who could help "Falls for Jodie" to be produced
throughout Texas.

We are so excited for you to experience "Falls For Jodie" and to take part in the discussion to follow.

Thanks so much for whatever contribution you can give to help make good art hit home!

Love & Art,
