Falls and Heart Issues: Nancy Needs Us
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Nancy Neidt. I retired from Fairview after 25 years as a psych RN due to COVID, COPD, and HTN.
I have 13 medical diagnoses, including: spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, congestive heart failure, chronic atrial fib, peripheral artery disease, COPD, BP instability, kidney disease, GERD, impingement of nerves under my rotator cuff with shoulder replacement recommended after years of steroids with current ineffectiveness, and bunions.
Functionally, I am unable to stand longer than 10 minutes without being in extreme pain due to the spondylolisthesis.
I also have become unsteady on my feet. I've fallen 15-20 times in the past year and then can't get up, just like the bad commercial. I broke my patella 18 months ago due to a fall.
The weekend of 5/13, I fell both Friday and Saturday. On Friday, a bookshelf with heavy pottery, drills, tools, and craft items fell on me, resulting in numerous bruises. On Saturday, I fell between my bed and the fallen bookshelf and couldn't get up.
Had to call 911 both times, with ambulance rides to the ER. I was hospitalized Saturday, then had a vascular crisis in which my BP got down to 77/50. A code was called as it was life-threatening.
I also take a blood thinner for a-fib, which puts me at risk for bleeding out, especially in my head.
I need assisted living. But they require assessment fees, a down payment/deposit, with rent being 89% of my income.
Those who know me know independence is me. But I am backed against a wall. I need help for medical bills, ambulance bills, co-pays, and help with initial fees for assisted care. Please help me!!
