Falling trees nearly kill family in occupied RV

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Dave White. I opened this GoFundMe for my friend (and coworker), Matthew Boersma.

[See ABC news coverage here] --> https://abc7news.com/marin-county-flooding-falling-tree-crushes-family-home-in-rv-crushed/11168334/
During the early evening on Sunday, 10/25/21, three giant redwood trees fell on Matthew's family RV, where his family was temporarily residing as they were slated to begin construction of a new home on the same plot of land.  Matthew, his wife Danielle, one of his daughters, and his two remaining dogs, were in the RV when 3 giant redwood  trees (after a record yearlong drought) succumbed to several days of high intensity rainfall;  falling onto the RV.   Matthew's 2nd daughter was in an adjacent construction tent during the event. Thankfully, no one in Matthews family were significantly injured; although, Matthew did sustain a concussion from being hit in the head, as these giants fell within several inches of where Matthew was resting.  Matthew and his family are now currently resting at a Best Western, no doubt, working on a plan for the near future.

Unfortunately, the events from this past weekend are even more heartbreaking. The night before the trees destroyed his RV; Matthew had a veterinarian put Maui, his youngest dog rest.  Maui was basically a big puppy, at 9 months old.  Maui started suffering several weeks ago from a tumor found in his lung, and it only increased.  It was an act of mercy, and Maui will be missed by his family and by the people at Matthew's work, who interacted with Maui whenever Matthew would bring him to work. He was a gentle giant.

Please consider a donation for Matthew and his family to help with the cost of removing the trees and destroyed RV, hospital bills, vet bills, and lodging costs until he has a more permanent solution. Any contribution to help Matthew and his family, during this rough period, is appreciated by me, and I'm sure Matthew will really appreciate it.

One more thing; Matthew is the type of person who will go far out of his way to help others who ask for his help. He has helped me in times of need. I've never known him to be anything, if not a very good person. It is my honor to set up this GoFundMe to help Matthew, his wife, Danielle, and his daughters, Taylor and Liliana, during their time of need.

[Update 11/04/21]:  Some good news regarding how your donations have made a difference.  These donations have lessened the financial burden resulting from the unexpected expenses related to leasing and relocation to an apartment, replacing basic furnishings, toiletries, and food that provide some comfort to his family.   Additionally, Matthew has been attending chiropractor sessions for injuries stemming from this disastrous event; his concussion and bruising are improving daily.  Also, your contributions are supplementing expenses resulting from this frightening experience that insurance does not cover.  Thank you to every person who contributed donations, including the GoFundMe Team which, I am certain, have made a difference for the good of this family.  The outpouring of kindness from all those who have contributed to this family in their time of need, whether by a contribution to the fundraiser or by words of kindness and prayers is inspiring to me, as it may be for you.  Thank you so much!
