HELP FALLBROOK FARMWORKER VICTIMS

Tax deductible
The shooting that happened at Atkins Nursery in Fallbrook, California on Friday, February 10, 2023, devastated many lives and their livelihood. It not only claimed one life, injured two, led to one arrest, and impacted the lives of many workers and their families, but it also left an entire community without answers, grieving and facing immediate economic hardship.

As concerned community members, we are mobilizing to help those directly affected. If you or your foundation/organization/business would like to donate to help farmworkers impacted by this tragedy, you can donate here or reach out to us to make an award/grant.

Even before this tragedy occurred, the farmworker community in general was facing tremendous stress and hardship from a long history of neglect and injustice. Their situation as essential workers was especially vulnerable during the covid-19 pandemic when much-experienced loss of income, health and even death. More recently, they lost work and income due to the severe storms we experienced in the region.

Then, on February 10 the tragic shooting happened that inflicted even more anxiety, and angst and resulted in even more acute economic hardship. On top of the emotional and mental trauma they are experiencing since the shooting happened, farmworkers are facing economic hardship and insecurity because their work has stopped, and the future of their employment is uncertain.

Universidad Popular, Comite Civico del Valle, Inc., VOCES de Fallbrook, Employee Rights Center, the Farmworker CARE Coalition, California Rural Legal Assistance and many other concerned individuals and groups are coming together to help farmworkers get through these difficult times. As the farmworkers navigate state, county, and local agency requirements and processes which could take weeks or months, we are hopeful that family, friends, and neighbors will step up to offer support, bring resources and share our blessings to help them meet urgent and critical needs.

The funds donated will be dispersed to impacted families to be used for emergency and critical needs and services to support the families affected by the Fallbrook shooting.
