"Falklands 40" Virtual Challenge

On 2 April 1982, Argentine forces invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands. Three days later, on 5 April, a UK task force set sail to recapture the Islands and restore freedom for the Islanders.

25,948 UK Armed Forces personnel, alongside around 3,000 civilian crew from the Merchant Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary formed the Task Force involved in the liberation of the Falkland Islands, of whom 255 died during the campaign. In addition, three civilian Falkland Islanders were also lost their lives during the war.

Following several weeks of intense fighting, Argentine forces surrendered on 14 June 1982, a date that has since been known in the Falkland Islands as ‘Liberation Day’

Join us From the 2nd April till the 14th June and take part in the “Falklands 40” Virtual Challenge.

“After disembarking from ships at San Carlos on East Falkland, on 21 May 1982, Royal Marines and members of the Parachute Regiment yomped (and tabbed) with their equipment across the islands, covering 56 miles (90 km) in three days carrying 80-pound (36 kg) loads. So we are asking you to YOMP, Walk, Run, Cycle, Row and or Swim 90k.

We also have the epic 638km Challenge that you can sign up for should you wish to really challenge yourself.

From 2 April to the 14 June 2022 the Virtual Challenge will take place, you can choose how and when you will complete your distance.

We are taking every step in memory of those 255 personnel who lost their lives and raising funds for our Veterans. Hidden Warriors CIC and Haig Housing Trust, together. So we can continue to provide support in the community and housing to Veterans and their Families.
