Falan's Top Surgery Recovery Fund

Hello beloved friends, family, and community. In March, I am receiving the gender affirming healthcare I have always dreamed of!!

My name is Falan (he/they), and I am seeking financial support for the six weeks of recovery directly following my double incision mastectomy, aka top surgery! I am a trans-masculine, gender expansive artist and performer of many disciplines based in Brooklyn, NY for the last 7 years. In March of 2023, I made the decision to start medically transitioning with hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) which has been transformational and life saving over the past 6 months. I could not be more grateful for the gender affirming care I have been fortunate to receive thus far!

After spending months of dialogue with my primary care physician and my therapist, we all agreed that top surgery was a medical necessity for me. It was initially at least a year away, but in a series of major scheduling updates, my procedure was moved up an entire year sooner than I was expecting! This is incredible and exciting news for me!!! This also means that I now have less time to source for some necessary funding and support. Because of my daily experience of gender dysphoria, I had to jump at this opportunity and have the surgery sooner.

Gender affirming healthcare is life-saving. I know that after I have this surgery, I am finally going to feel like myself and that what I see in the mirror matches how I feel on the inside.

The funds raised will help support me buy food, pay for two months of rent, and assist in any incidentals that come with missing a lot of work and healing from a major medical procedure (bandages, mastectomy pillow, scar care, etc). Little by little, I have been saving money on my own and applying for remote work that I can do with my downtime. Any amount of donation makes a difference! Additionally, your donation can be made in the form of food, helping with tasks at home while I am recovering, or any spare recovery supplies.
