My name is Nikki. I will be arriving in South Africa over the summer holidays to work in a SEN school with Project Zulu.
Project Zulu
Our fantastic UWE Bristol Occupational Therapy and Learning Disabilities Nursing students along with their supporting UWE Bristol academics have been working in the areas of health, development and education of the children at the YWCA school in Madadeni since 2017. Working alongside local educators they support with the processes of screening for particular physical, cognitive and educational needs they also run workshops on relevant topics including sensory learning, epilepsy and autism.
Money they fundraise each year has been put to excellent use enhancing and updating existing resources, as well as creating new ones. This project represents mutual learning and collaboration at its very best.
