My name is Debbie Proffitt, I'm the mother of three beautiful, loving, giving daughters. My youngest one, Faith, has been dealing with an autoimmune disease since 2010, having infusions every 4-6 weeks.
In all this time, she has raised her two kids, gotten them both through high school, she has maintained a full-time job and been an advocate for many people and causes in her hometown of Alachua, Florida.
Last year, she developed a second autoimmune disease which has attacked her kidneys and they have failed. She is now on dialysis 4 times a week and starting the search for a living kidney donor (another need we have).
She has had to take medical leave from her work and has been on short-term disability and has had enough PTO to cover her share of medical insurance. This is coming to an end shortly.
The process for SSDI has been started, but it is uncertain when she will be approved for it. So far, we have been able to manage life expenses. My husband and I are retired but are doing all we can to help her financially, as well as helping a small amount monthly towards my 103-year-old Mother-in-law's upkeep.
other friends have given help as well, but seems now is the time to ask for help!
Faith has stayed positive in her journeys, and looks forward to many more years with her kids, her friends, her community. You can follow her on IG @faithsfailingkidneys.
I know there are many needs in this world, just putting this request out into the universe and all is appreciated. Send prayers, good vibes, smoke signals, whatever ya got! Sharing helps as well!!
