Help Support Tyler, Kelli & Little Kenzie Through a Medical Crisis

Hi everyone, my name is Emily Scholler, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my brother Tyler Scholler, his wife Kelli, and their sweet 6-year-old daughter Kenzie.

Tyler has fought an uphill battle his entire life. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 5 years old, and over the years it’s taken so much from him — most of his vision and, more recently, his kidney function. For the past year, he’s been living with stage 5 kidney failure, bravely facing each day with strength and faith.

This past Saturday, everything changed again. Kelli had to rush Tyler to the ER in International Falls after he started showing stroke symptoms. Within an hour, doctors made the urgent decision to life flight him to St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. There, they discovered that Tyler had suffered two separate strokes — one deep in the brain caused by his diabetes, and another on the right side of his brain that doctors believe may be connected to his heart. That second stroke is still active, and they have to be incredibly careful not to reactivate it.

Right now, the doctors don’t know the full extent of the damage, and Tyler remains in a very delicate state. Until he’s out of the active stroke zone, we simply don’t know what recovery will look like or when he’ll be able to come home.

Through all of this, Kelli has not left his side. She’s had to take time off work to be with him, which means their family is now facing not only emotional exhaustion and uncertainty — but also the heavy financial strain of missed income and ongoing bills. On top of that, being separated from their daughter Kenzie has been heartbreaking for both of them.

I’m starting this GoFundMe to help lift that financial burden off their shoulders so they can focus entirely on Tyler’s healing and getting back home to their little girl. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a world of difference in helping them cover bills, travel costs, and daily living expenses during this incredibly difficult time.
