Update:
Hi friends. It is with heavy heart that I must say that my beloved, vivacious, and sweet mom has passed away from complications with her treatment. We take comfort in knowing that she is now wrapped in God's comforting embrace and no longer struggles. Donations and gifts of love on this GoFundMe will now be used to help pay for any funeral costs. Your love, support, and prayers are so appreciated and help us through this time of grief and remembrance.
Visitation will be Thursday 12/4 from 6-8pm at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville, and her Celebration of Life will be Friday 12/5 at 10am also at Autry Funeral Home.
With love,
Brittany
Hi, friends!
As many of you know, my precious mom was diagnosed in 2020 with a rare disease called AL Amyloidosis, which causes abnormal proteins to build up in organs and tissues throughout the body. In her case, Amyloidosis has affected her heart and, more recently, has begun impacting her kidneys and liver.
Because this disease is so rare, it often goes undiagnosed for too long. We are deeply thankful that my mom’s condition was discovered early enough for doctors to act quickly. I’ll never forget sitting beside her in the oncologist’s office, hearing words no family ever wants to hear — that the prognosis for Amyloidosis is often not good. But… God! He had other plans for her story. We are forever grateful that her doctor partnered with a team of Amyloidosis specialists who immediately began an aggressive and effective treatment plan.
The past five years have been a rollercoaster of appointments, treatments, and faith-filled waiting. Through it all, one thing has remained constant — Jesus has been with us every step of the way.
Now, we are approaching the next major phase of her journey: a stem cell transplant. In my mom’s case, her own healthy stem cells will be collected, stored, and then reinfused after she receives high-dose chemotherapy to “reset” her bone marrow — essentially giving her body a fresh start. We are prayerful that this transplant will help put her into lasting remission and give her a healthy future!
Mom will be admitted to Baylor in Dallas on November 13th for her stem cell transplant and is expected to remain hospitalized for 4–6 weeks, followed by several months of recovery at home. During this time, she will be unable to work, and the financial burden will be significant.
I am creating this GoFundMe to help bridge the gap — to ease the financial strain so she can focus fully on healing, resting, and recovering, without the added stress of bills or lost income.
If you feel led to give or share, we would be so grateful. Every donation, every prayer, every encouraging word means the world to us. Thank you for walking alongside our family in this journey of faith and hope.
With love and gratitude,
Brittany
