We are reaching out with full hearts to ask for prayers and support for our family: Jazmin and Josh, and their sweet boy Jacob. They are expecting another beautiful baby boy due in January 2026.
At their 20-week anatomy scan, their world shifted when the doctors discovered a serious heart defect in Baby O. In that moment, they were told the most devastating words any parent could hear — that they should consider terminating the pregnancy as the baby’s chances of survival were too low. Immediately they felt fear rush over, but something deep in their hearts told them to find another answer — a quiet voice reminding them to trust God’s plan. They knew that God had a purpose for this little life.
Over the past year, since getting married through the Church in 2024 and receiving God’s blessing, Jazmin and Josh have each been growing in their faith and relationship with God. Learning to rely on His plan through every challenge that comes their way. In the middle of confusion and heartbreak, they turned to prayer. Torn between fear and faith, they went to church and talked to one of the priests and immediately found the answer they needed to hear. With unwavering trust, they chose to place this journey fully in God’s hands.
Their search led them to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), one of the leading hospitals in the country for congenital heart conditions. There, specialists confirmed that Baby O has a Single Ventricle Defect (SVD) — a rare and complex heart condition where one of the heart’s pumping chambers does not develop properly leaving only one ventricle to do the work of two. This means that Baby O’s heart will have to work much harder to supply oxygen to his body. Treatment for SVD involves multiple open-heart surgeries during the first few years of life — the first typically happening within days of birth, followed by additional surgeries as the baby grows. It’s an emotional and physical journey that requires strength, faith, and community support.
As their family, we want to help carry them through this season. We know that they would never ask for help themselves, but we know they will need it — financially, emotionally, and spiritually. As Jazmin and Josh prepare for Baby O’s arrival, they are also preparing for a long road ahead — one filled with hospital stays, travel to and from CHOP from their home in New Jersey, and time away from work to care for both Baby O and Jacob. They will need help covering living expenses, travel costs, childcare, postpartum recovery needs, and extended time off work so they can focus on what truly matters: being together as a family and giving Baby O the love and care he needs.
Despite the heavy news, they continue to hold tightly to their faith in God’s plan. They believe with all their hearts that Baby O was created with purpose, and that miracles can come even in the most uncertain times. If you feel led, please consider supporting this beautiful family — whether through a donation, a prayer, or by sharing their story. Every bit of love and support helps lighten their load during this incredibly difficult season.
