“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.” - Hebrews 12:1–2
Hi, my name is Symur and I am from Hope Church Perth. This October, I’ve taken on a personal challenge: to cycle 1,000 kilometers in 31 days. Not for fitness or personal achievement, but to raise funds for something deeply meaningful - the Hope Church Perth building project.
I began this journey on October 2, 2025, with a simple goal and a big dream: to ride 1,000 kilometers and make a difference for a cause close to my heart. After weeks of determination, prayer, and countless pedal strokes, I finally crossed the finish line with a total of 1,001 kilometers. I can hardly believe I made it through. Deep down, I knew I could do it - not by my own strength, but through faith.
To be honest, I haven’t cycled in a while, and I was hesitant at first. Even when I was more active, 1,000 km wasn’t something I would normally attempt. But this journey is more than physical - it’s spiritual.
For the past 11 years, Hope Church Perth has been my spiritual home and a place of refuge, encouragement, and growth. In seasons of stress and fatigue from work, family challenges, and the daily grind, this church family has been my support group, reminding me of God’s grace and strength. Now, we’re believing for something greater: a permanent home where lives can be transformed, just as mine has been.
We’ve been renting a space for our gatherings, and by God’s grace, we’ve purchased land for our very own building, a place we can truly call home. But we’re currently short on finances to move forward to the next stage of construction.
Every kilometer reminded me that faith is a journey - one that calls for endurance, discipline, and complete trust in the One who goes before us. There were days when the road felt endless, when my body ached, and when the goal seemed out of reach. Yet, just like in life, I pressed on - not for personal glory, but for God’s glory and the advancement of His kingdom.
This challenge is more than a fundraiser. It’s an act of worship. Every drop of sweat, every uphill climb, every moment of perseverance is a declaration: “Lord, I’m doing this for You. For Your house. For Your people.”
Although I've completed my 1000 km cycling campaign, the mission continues! If you feel led to give, your support is still greatly appreciated and will go a long way toward helping us reach our goal. Every contribution - big or small - makes a difference and helps bring this vision closer to reality. Thank you for standing with me in this journey of faith and purpose.
