For the past 20 years, if you’ve ever called Sunshine Riding Trails, there’s a good chance you heard the warm, familiar voice of David Rich on the other end of the line. Dave is the husband of owner and head trailmaster Kathy Rich, and he's been the steady heart and voice behind our ranch family.

Dave has been living with COPD for nearly two decades. Over the years, he’s faced it with quiet strength, but today, his lung function has dropped to just 16%. Every breath is a struggle, and even the simplest tasks have become nearly impossible. But Dave isn’t ready to give up — he wants to take a shot at living again.

He dreams of riding horses once more, of getting back under the hood to tinker with cars like he used to. Most of all, he wants to be healthy enough to see all of you again — our beloved Sunshine Riding Trails community.

To receive a life-saving lung transplant, Dave will need to relocate to Jacksonville for 3 to 6 months for surgery, recovery, and follow-up care. This is a long and challenging road, both emotionally and financially. While Kathy continues to run the ranch and care for the horses, we’re reaching out to ask for your help.
