When I was younger, I developed a love for cooking because of my dad. For a long time, I didn’t follow God, but in 2024 my life changed drastically. On January 16th, my dad passed away, and one of the ways I raised money for his funeral was by cooking. I continued to seek God, but less than two months later, my brother was shot and killed. This left me questioning my faith and feeling trapped in a cycle of grief. During those times, I worked as a server at a local restaurant called Beef O’ Brady’s. I started pouring back into my faith and realized I couldn’t handle the pain without God, who has constantly shown up for me. Through all the depression and loneliness, I found hope.
As I got deeper in my relationship with God, I met my now husband, got pregnant with my beautiful daughter Genesis Alani Harper, and we moved to Georgia to start our new life. Once my daughter arrived, I finally felt like I had more of a reason. Less than two months after she was born, she began having several episodes of seizures. After calling 911 and being dismissed multiple times, we finally got her to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with epilepsy. After finding out about my daughter’s epilepsy, I moved back home to Florida to be closer to family and support. With her being epileptic, I now stay home with her and serve as her caregiver. I’ve worked plenty of restaurant jobs and pursued many careers, but I’ve always had a passion for cooking. I used to put off my dreams out of fear of others’ opinions or failure, but now, with my circumstances, I’m forced to pursue my dreams.
I sell plates and cater, but my true dream is to own a food truck. Cooking is my calling, and I want to bring glory to God through it. Not only do I want to make it my career, but I want to help others in need. I want to feed the less fortunate, bring families together, and spread God’s word. I don’t have much but faith and a dream, and I know I’ll get there. I would love some support from my brothers and sisters—whether it’s donating, sharing my fundraiser, or praying for my journey.
