Hello, my name is Calvin Gibbs. I’m 66 years old, a proud husband, father of three, grandfather of ten, and a U.S. Marine veteran living in South Carolina.

In 2017, my life changed forever when I suffered a massive heart attack. I flatlined four times — and each time, the doctors were able to bring me back. They told my family that they had done all they could, and the rest was in God’s hands. Through prayer, faith, and God’s grace, I was given seven more years of life — years that blessed me with the chance to welcome four more beautiful grandchildren into this world.

But as time has passed, my heart has grown weaker. A doctor once told me that if my heart were a six-cylinder engine, I’m now running on only two. Despite the challenges, I’ve completed 100% of the medical treatments required to be considered for a heart transplant. I’m now waiting to be placed on the transplant list — and praying for another miracle.

To add to our family’s challenges, my wife Sarah is also facing a major surgery. She is scheduled to have a hip replacement on July 22, 2025. As she prepares for her own recovery, we are trying to navigate these medical hardships together, leaning on faith, each other, and the kindness of others.
