I can’t stress enough how dangerous the flu is, how fast pneumonia can become deadly in hours, how the body can go into septic shock in seconds and your whole world becomes completely destroyed.
Our gorgeous baby girl is a fighter and she is doing better every day. Words cannot describe the feelings my family is feeling but we are strong and so is Kaydin.
Kaydin,13, started with the flu, running fevers, coughing and fatigued, until she had trouble breathing and the color in her face changed. The ED started her on a bipap machine to try and help her get the oxygen her body needs. After continuing bipap and continuing to drop her oxygen saturation they decided to airlift her to the children’s hospital a few towns away. There her oxygen was still not where it should be, she was so exhausted, the doctors decided to sedate her, intubate, and put her on a ventilator. Kaydin’s heart stopped beating and was thankfully brought back after a few minutes. The situation was dire as Kaydin was in septic shock, she needed to be put on ecmo (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is a treatment that uses a pump to circulate blood through an artificial lung back into the bloodstream) and dialysis, also getting a chest tube placed to drain fluid from her lungs. Kaydin continues to fight for her life, taking all the small wins she can. The family is in need of all the prayers that are offered. We are hoping to take some of the financial burden off while she is in critical condition, so her parents can stay by her side.
Kaydin is such a loving, kind, strong, beautiful sweet girl. She’s a daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and a friend to many.
Her ideal perfect day is to be in bed with her puppy emery (the bean) and watch TV shows all day, if she had the choice she would do that everyday. She loves anime books/shows and stickers. She plays the french horn. Her favorite food is ramen, especially buldak. Her favorite snack is takis which she will not share them. Her favorite colors are blue and purple.
