“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
Right now, I am standing on that step, trusting God even when the door in front of me feels like it is closing.
My name is Everett, and I am asking for help so I can continue my education at Clark Atlanta University—not for comfort, not for luxury, but because I believe this is where God has called me to be. This fundraiser is an investment in my future and in the purpose God has placed on my life. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord… plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
I have received $1,803.50 worth of no’s. I wish I could receive even one yes. Yesterday, I was told that if I cannot pay $1,803.50, I will not be allowed to move into housing and my classes will be dropped. My financial aid department has told me numerous times that there is no more funding available for me. Still, I am holding onto God’s promise: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7).
I am not asking for one person to carry this burden alone. I am not demanding donations. I am simply asking to be a vessel of God’s love, believing that when the body of Christ comes together, no calling is abandoned and no seed is planted in vain. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
I have been working with everything in me to not just survive, but thrive at Clark Atlanta University. I have done my part. I have prayed. I have knocked. And now, I am stepping out in faith. “Faith without works is dead” (James 2:17).
My mother has already sacrificed more than I can ever put into words. After being laid off for three months, she now works two jobs, not only to pay her bills but to try and help me stay in school. I cannot keep asking her to slowly exhaust herself for my future—even though she would do it without hesitation. “Honor thy father and thy mother” (Exodus 20:12).
This moment is urgent, and this need is real. Even if you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is a blessing in itself. One yes. One share. One act of obedience could change everything. I am trusting God for provision, believing His Word that says, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
Thank you for reading, praying, and standing with me as I walk in faith toward the future God has promised.
