Failing veteran

Caught in position I never could imagine.  While transitioning from the Marines to the civilian world my wife fell under health issues that put her on chemo. Confidently I told her not to worry and I would support us. All was well until about a month ago when I experienced a  heart failure condition that put me unable to work.  I am attempting to see what I can do with the VA regarding my issues but am told it can take up to a year to know where that will go. I am swallowing my pride and asking for any help that can get us through this process so we do not lose the life we have built(mortgage,health costs, utilities and other bills). 
Anything will help us and I will stop taking assistance once the process with the VA is resolved. 
Please help us stay on our feet so we can bounce back and help others.
