Fae Could Use Our Help

Hello, I am looking to friends today to help Fae get back on her feet as she deals with new health issues.

Due to an unfortunate string of health and job issues, Fae has been placed in an unfortunate situation.

In August, Fae was laid off from her IT position at The Gap along with 1,800 other people. She had been with the company for over 19 years and would have probably stayed until she retired in a few years.

After a month of job hunting, she fell unexpectedly ill and was bedridden for a month. During this period, her glaucoma, diabetes, and other health conditions went from being managed to causing health issues that she had not seen previously. Because of this, she has lost significant vision in her right eye and still needs surgery in her left. Her new vision loss will change the types of jobs she can apply for in the future and multiple other big changes for her.

Her doctor encouraged her to apply for disability as her eyes healed from her past surgery and get ready for the second surgery. Her disability claim was denied because she was unemployed and was not looking for work at the time due to her vision.

Because she applied for disability, her unemployment checks came to a halt. She has an interview in February that she hopes will help, but at this point, she has run out of money for her bills, health insurance, and housing. She will be moving in with a friend for a few months but must pay rent and bills there, too. In other words, she could really use some help.

If you can donate anything at all to a lovely woman who is struggling with significant vision loss and the loss of her home, it would be greatly appreciated. She needs a bit of help for the next few months, as she tries to navigate the world of getting a job, getting health insurance, getting a second surgery, and getting back into a permanent living situation.
