Fade To Blue, a Tribute to Allegany’s Campobello

This project has brought together a wonderful community of people to share in the memories of their Dear Old High School on Sedgwick Street, Allegany's Campobello, the Blue and White. The project has been a bright spot during a dark time, allowing different generations of many cross sections of high school life to share in one last experience with their alma mater. It represents something different to everyone and this exhibition will showcase how Campobello’s final chapter concludes. My hope is this will be a part of the building’s story and will be shared for generations to come. We will celebrate what the building has meant to this community! The building will be gone by the time of the exhibition but the memories will remain. So as in storytelling, I thought instead of this building's story fading to black...it should Fade To Blue.
Your generous donation will go directly to fund the cost of large format archival printing and framing as well as helping with self publishing the Fade To Blue keepsake book. There will be about 40 photographs as well as many artifacts and special ALCO items that will need to be prepared for display in the gallery. The book will be a large hard bound collection of the images and interviews I have conducted with many of the project's participants. The participants are telling me stories of their time at Allegany and sharing thoughts and feelings about the building. If I am fortunate enough to exceed the goal, extra funds will go directly to help plan a large celebration on the evening of the opening reception of the exhibition, July 9, 2022, a proper way to end the day and fully celebrate with all generations of Allegany Campers!!
The funds would ultimately be needed within the next 6-12 months.
I cannot express the feeling this project has given me...it has been life changing. I've been given the opportunity to meet hundreds of people who have become very special to me. I understand the weight of what this project means to this community. To capture the history, to tell it's story and to bridge that legacy to new generations. We all felt something going back inside that building and it has become my mission to give this community something to be proud of. No corner will be cut and every detail will be special. It has organically evolved into something that I am not capable of fulfilling financially and I could really use your help!
