Tax deductible
THE DOCUMENTARY
Facing the Wind is a recently completed documentary about people with Lewy body dementia, the spouses who care for them, and the remarkable community where they find sustenance and support.
THE NEED
Maryland Public Television will offer the film for broadcast on public TV nation-wide in 2026. But the technical work to prepare the film for broadcast -- and the promotional work to insure it is seen widely -- will require thousands of additional dollars. We have raised our GoFundMe goal try to cover those costs.
We greatly appreciate the generosity of those of you who contributed to the production of the film. If you are moved to contribute a bit more to help us reach a wide public television audience, we would extremely grateful.
(NOTE: Lewy Body Dementia Resource Center will receive donations on behalf of the film, entitling donors to a tax deduction.)
THE IMPACT
Lewy body dementia (LBD) affects 1.4 million Americans but is largely unknown and often misdiagnosed. Facing the Wind will put Lewy body dementia into the public spotlight, building pressure for better diagnosis and treatment
Over 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with various dementias. Facing the Wind will amplify a growing movement to provide comprehensive support for family caregivers.
THE TEAM
Facing the Wind is the latest collaboration of award-winning director Deirdre Fishel and producer Tony Heriza. Their ground-breaking film Care, funded by the Ford and MacArthur Foundations and broadcast on PBS, shed light on America’s broken eldercare system.
