Hi my name is Lilli, and I’m organizing a GoFundMe on behalf of Angel Dorr.

Eight years ago, a tick bite changed Angel’s life.

While she never saw the tick, she discovered a strange rash on her leg after going for a walk and a week later fell ill. She was later diagnosed with Lyme disease. Since then, she’s suffered crippling fatigue, brain fog, chronic pain, and unexplained seizures among other issues she’s still trying to diagnose. She’s been to the ER countless times. She’s had to drastically cut her hours at her work-from-home job. She’s drained her savings on more than one occasion paying medical bills and just trying to survive and feed herself.

A few months ago Angel’s mother died suddenly of a rare and aggressive cancer only six weeks after being diagnosed. Bereaved, it left a huge hole in her life and with almost no financial support. Shortly before that, a long term relationship ended unexpectedly and her partner moved out. He was gracious enough to let her return to his old apartment, but a sudden rent hike of $1,600 / month means he’s now letting it go and she has to leave in only five days.

At the time of this writing, Angel has nowhere to go. Life with a chronic illness is hell enough, but being faced with homelessness on top of that is untenable. In addition she has a companion, Edith, a sweet ragdoll cat, which complicates things further.

I’m raising money for food, shelter, pet supplies and medical expenses until Angel has a permanent solution for her and her cat. Angel has food stamps but it’s not adequate to cover a month’s supply of food.

As someone who is also chronically ill, I cannot fathom dealing with an illness like Angel’s while facing homelessness and separation from a pet… not to mention the stress and pain of losing a parent in the thick of it. We talk regularly, and I’m in awe of her mental resilience during the onslaught of “one thing after another” she’s endured the last year. I know nothing would make her happier than returning to life as a healthier, independent woman - to go back working full time, continue with makeup artistry, film photography and her other creative pursuits. But she can’t get there without our help.

Angel is such a sweet and kind woman with a creative spirit many of us have been inspired by. Photographers have lauded her talents and even tried to emulate her unique, moody and nostalgic aesthetic. Even just a few bucks helps Angel, and helps the fundraiser gain more steam.
