I've been behind on rent and paying hundreds extra due to the month-to-month rate after last June when my lease ran out. I ran the GoFundMe to stay in the apartment for that June and getting caught up. Friends and my brother came through for me and I met that goal. It worked somewhat--I was totally caught up with June including legal fees when the 1st eviction was filed. However, since I didn't pay July on time, and it was time for a new lease, they refused the new lease and put me on the month-to-month rate from July until this present time.
Jobs have been on-and-off, but nothing long-term. I'm actually in the midst of a 2nd eviction filing, and had an arrangement to make payments to get caught up. Everything was on-track until the last job I had ended Jan 31st, but the new one I had lined up for Feb and going forward was rescinded the Friday before Jan 31st. I was caught off guard by this, as the contracting company was offering me a medical exemption for Covid, but the client refused as the start date approached.
Now, I'm scrambling for make arrangements to move before I get locked out of the apartment next week and lose my furniture and stuff. I'll need funds to arrange for a moving van. I'm looking to move in with my brother for a few months in Alabama, and then when he moves to Florida, I'll head there too and try to get an apartment within a comfortable driving distance of him.
The shocker is the money it's going to take in order to rent a truck and move the 1,200 miles. It's looking like $2,500 or so to do this, but I only have about $1,000. I need to raise about $1,500 real quick, as I'll probably be locked out of the apartment by next week.
