Hi everyone,
We're starting this campaign for my fiancé, Noah, who had a traumatic accident while visiting his family in Austin, Texas.
On the night of Friday, June 20th, Noah was sleeping in a guest bed when the frame and slats gave way beneath him. He fell face-first onto the tile floor below; the impact knocked him unconscious and he has no recollection of the fall itself. When he came to, he was disoriented and covered in blood, and missing one of his front teeth. His family rushed in after hearing him scream. They found his tooth and placed it in milk in an attempt to save it, then immediately drove to the ER.
At the hospital, Noah received stitches for a laceration above his eye, and a CT scan revealed multiple fractures to his orbital bone, sinus floor, and upper jaw going into his front teeth. The ER team was able to reinsert and temporarily cement the avulsed tooth, but the four front teeth remain loose.
Surgery was scheduled back home in Greenville, SC. The surgeon opted to stabilize Noah’s jaw using a gold wire and wrapping it around his upper teeth. He’s been on a liquid/soft food diet since the fall, with no solid food until further notice. The pain has been intense for him; he said the jaw surgery/correction has been way more painful than the fall itself. Noah remains an inspiration to me for his bravery handling his first surgery. He is the strongest person I know.
Luckily, his orbital and sinus fractures are healing on their own, but he’s experiencing lingering numbness in his forehead which is likely due to nerve damage.
We are preparing ourselves for a long road ahead. We’ve already paid $3,400 for his first surgery, and upcoming expenses include:
* $1,000+ in follow-ups and scans
* $2,000- 3,000 for the wire removal surgery
* $1,000- 3,000 for bone grafting
* $12,000- 16,000 for implants
Like many Americans, Noah is navigating this with limited insurance coverage. Aside from the ER visit, his treatment so far has been out-of-pocket. We’re here reaching out for help due to the overwhelming financial strain this has placed on us. While there's still a lot of uncertainty ahead, we know that we can’t do it alone.
We’re setting our goal at $15,000 in the hopes that will cover future surgeries and dental work. Your donations will go directly toward medical expenses to help Noah recover and eventually restore his smile that we all know and love. While his injuries may not look extreme at first glance, the trauma has been deep and ongoing- and we’re doing our best to navigate everything one day at a time.
Experiencing a freak accident while in your most vulnerable state goes beyond words, but Noah’s optimism has been unwavering and admirable. We want to especially thank Noah’s friend, Dr. Gina Polizzo, for her expertise and for removing his stitches, and Dr. Igor Sorin, who offered insight and set expectations for dental procedures.
Whether you’re able to donate, share, or even just send love our way, we’re eternally grateful.
Everyone’s support means the world to us.
With love and gratitude,
Kait & Noah ♡
