Hello,
Our friend Juan attended college in Nebraska back in the 1980s. After earning his degree he return to his native Venezuela, taught school, married, and started a family. Unfortunately, their country has fallen apart. To survive, the Facendo family fled to Peru, along with millions of others. Juan's fraternity brothers have kept in touch, provided occasional support and attempted to bring Juan and Maria's children to the US for school. Now, through a special program for Venezuelan refugees, they have been granted Travel Authorization to come to the USA legally. The Burke family in Omaha will give them a place to stay and other assistance. We are hoping for your $$ to help with travel expenses, some furniture, and clothing. Thank you for your prayers and support!
Jan 20 Update: Friends, you have blown away the goal of covering the cost of airfare to bring the family to Omaha. I am increasing the goal in the hope of providing for other expenses they will encounter as they re-establish their new lives: cell phone service, health insurance, transportation around the city (driver's license not allowed at this time, more to come), etc.
Thank you all for your generosity and giving spirit. God be praised!
Gerry & Mary Burke
