PPE to Save Lives

SUMMARY

Due to a national shortage of Face Shields and other personal protective equipment for the front line health care providers, nurses and doctors are being forced to re-use equipment putting themselves and others at high risk for contracting and spreading Covid-19. In addition to this, millions across the country are now without work. We're here to save lives, and save jobs! 

In an effort to protect the front line providers,  DiveDesign has teamed up with  Model Maker's Inc to begin immediate production of face shields at a rate of up to 700 units a day. These masks are being made using foam and PVC sheets at the Model Maker's shop in Rockaway NJ, for immediate distribution where the need is greatest. We have already been contacted by numerous hospitals in New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia, all of which are now waiting for us to begin delivering units. Model Makers Inc has been a local small business for over 40 years, and with no fabrication jobs to work on due to the pandemic, we are helping them to sustainably shift over to producing these much-needed shields to get through these very difficult times.


We are also working with Pico Solutions Group in Kearny NJ to begin the development and production of face masks to replenish the dwindling supply of surgical / N95 face masks so urgently needed by health care practitioners. They are also actively working to source manufacturers to help keep up with demand. In the meantime,  they are creating a reusable option that provides a better seal than the surgical masks currently in use and can be made at home. The Design efforts will be led by Pico's 3D printing team and their lead advisor & a very gifted designer Eugene Pentland.



GOAL


Our goal is to produce at least 10,000 face shields and 1,000 3d printed masks to begin delivering them to local hospitals and beyond, as far as our supplies and funds will last. 


WHO WE ARE

DiveDesign is a product development consultancy located in Boonton, NJ which focuses on creating and designing meaningful products and companies. We have worked extensively with the Model Maker's Inc to produce high-quality prototypes for our clients in a range of industries, as they are industry experts in creating and producing models and prototypes.

DiveDesign is also a pioneer in designing 3D printed prosthetics for dogs supported by the 3D printing expertise of Pico Solutions, an additive manufacturing consultancy with tremendous initiatives in the educational space for children. We are once again working with them to develop the best possible face mask solutions and to print and fabricate them on their print farm of cutting edge WASP 3D printers and other technologies.




FAQ

How will funds be used? 

All funds will go towards enabling us to purchase material in bulk, begin immediate production of the already designed shields, and continue development and testing of the masks before beginning production in the coming weeks. 


How are we distributing the gear?

We have contacts standing by at Valley Hospital, Morristown Memorial, PMPediatrics, Upenn, Jefferson, and more to come. Shipping will begin as soon as we have collected enough materials to start a production run.
