Face Shields for MA Hospitals & First Responders

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dylan and my family and I are 3D printing face shields to donate to local hospitals, nurses, doctors, first responders, etc. in the Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island area to help them stay safe and healthy in the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Epidemic that the world is fighting. These public safety and medical industry professionals put their lives on the line DAILY to save lives and protect us. They're doing a job many of us wouldn't be able to do. This epidemic is especially hard for them, so it's important that we support them however we can.

My family has started 3D printing face shields to be donated to these public safety and medical professionals as a way of supporting them in the fight against COVID-19. My dad and I do the 3D printing management and post-finishing, my mom & brother assemble them, and my mom and I make the deliveries to where the face shields are being donated. I'm able to fabricate and donate up to around 400 a week, but it will eventually become hard to keep spending our own money on making and donating these face shields. I could use your support to purchase more plastic filament ("ink") for the 3D printers to print the plastic headbands, as well as purchasing plastic sheets for the main part of the mask.

List of places where the 3D printed face shields have be donated to:
• Sturdy Memorial Hospital - Attleboro, MA
• Norwood Fire Dept.
• Plainville, MA Fire Department
• North Attleboro Police Department
• Somerset Police Department
• North Attleboro Fire Department
• View the full list here.
• If you know of a location that could benefit from a donation of these face shields, please fill out this form.

If you can't make a monetary donation, a donation of plastic transparency paper (like the kind used in overhead projectors) or plastic binding cover sheets (like what's used on the front of some bound reports), that would also be very helpful! Please fill out this contact form  to get in touch. Thank you to South Attleboro Staples and Beta Group, Inc. for their material donations.

I intend to make YouTube video updates about the process. The links will be posted here. Please view this Google Spreadsheet to track the finances of this project. Any excess funding will be donated to where it's most needed to help fight this virus. I haven't yet decided on an organization(s) for where any excess funding would go, but I will continue to research potential beneficiaries and I am open to suggestions. The benefitting organization(s) will be posted here once I make a choice.

Lastly, while I know there are many generous people out there that would be willing to donate, please realize that these are hard times for everyone, so be mindful of your own financial situation and whether or not it's a good idea for you to make this donation. The safety and health of you and your loved ones should always come first! If you're unable to make a donation, the best way you can help out is by following all regulations set out by the government, the CDC, and your local health agencies. Another great way to be supportive is to reach out to your friends and family over the phone or a video call, and check-in on how they're doing. These are tough times we're going through. Offer to be someone to talk to if they need it.

Thank you for supporting my family in supporting our first responders, EMT's, nurses, and doctors.

Take care,
Dylan
